All day on Monday, cask ales are just £3.50 a pint at The Verulam.
Extensively and sympathetically refurbished in 2022 following a period of closure, The Verulam is a characterful pub with a pleasant garden. The large, L-shaped bar stocks up to eight cask ales, as well as traditional ciders on handpull and an extensive selection of craft keg beers.
Unusually, background music is provided via an old-fashioned record player spinning vinyl discs on the back bar. The pub's position makes it an ideal focal point to explore the Abbey and grounds, including the quaint warren of streets, river, Roman ruins and mill of nearby St Michaels and Verulamium Park.
